From the winemaker:
Vibrant, almost glowing fuchsia-purple color is intense and alluring. Expansive aromas of earthy black fruits rise easily from the glass, mingling with notes of dried earth, cocoa powder, and a hint of tobacco A pretty
haze of violets provides a floral top note. On the palate the wine has a pleasing plush texture that delivers bold flavors of black cherry and blackberry fruit, with a hint of blueberry in the background. Though pleasingly
soft, there is good acidity, and a fine-grained tannin structure adds backbone. The wine finishes with a fruity flourish. This Super Tuscan-inspired blend is a bold, yet supple Northwest expression of a classic Old World
style. The sangiovese provides a floral-accented cherry core to the wine, the cabernet franc adds raspberry, dried herb notes, and depth, while the Merlot contributes softer fruit tones. This will be a great wine to pair with grilled meats, hearty pastas and stews, or well-seasoned poultry dishes.
The fruit for this wine comes from the two westernmost vineyards in the Yakima Valley, Red Willow Vineyard and Slide Mountain Vineyard. These meticulously farmed vineyards are in some of the coolest parts of the appellation, so the fruit has extra vibrancy and varietal fidelity. At Red Willow, grower Mike Sauer provided
all the Sangiovese and Merlot for this wine, while Bruce Morford’s Slide Mountain Vineyard contributed the Cabernet Franc. 81% Sangiovese 10% Merlot 9% Cabernet Franc. 1251 cases produced.
