From the winemaker:
We like to take a pretty minimal approach to our winemaking. Tap into some great sources and make varietally true and focused wines. However, the one part where we get to really flex some skills is during the blending process. Sometimes we weave together as many as two dozen different lots selected for cooperage, oak age, vineyards, and vineyard blocks. In the case of our Cabernet Sauvignon, we even have the option of using small pieces of other Bordeaux varietals to make it just so.
The 2013 vintage was again phenomenal for Cabernet Sauvignon throughout California. A mild summer gave way to a warm, long and dry September and October that allowed for ideal ripeness levels and great depth of flavor.
In this rendition of our RICKSHAW Cabernet Sauvignon we again fortunate to pull in some stellar pieces from Napa that really provide ballast and a sense of class to the wine. In particular our 2013 Merlot really stood apart from previous vintages providing a soft, velvety companion to the more structured Cabernet components. Even though only 4% of the blend the Cabernet Franc really flashes the nose noticeably
